Hey guess what? I am doing adoption paperwork! Are you surprised? Well, you shouldn't be because this whole process has been a huge mass of paperwork! So here is where we are. After the trip to visit and make contact with the children, I have to submit the I800 application for each child. This is just to make certain that both children are indeed eligible to be adopted. I have the documents needed and I have already sent this application in. From what I hear it takes a couple of weeks to get the provisional approval. I will keep you posted. So that was one batch of docs and I have another batch to send to our adoption attorney (Toni). These include our updated medicals, psychs, and police checks because these docs can not be over 6 months old and in the world of adoption 6 months is nothing. I also have to fill out some forms with the official names that we plan to name both children. We went back and forth several times but the official names will be Talia Joy Baker and Tobias Jordan Baker. We are keeping bits of their original names to honor their heritage. In the paperwork I discovered some little tidbits about our children. Talia is considered of roma heritage. I saw some people of roma heritage while I was in EE and they are gorgeous! Dark skin and eyes, they are strikingly beautiful people. Talia doesn't look roma to me because her skin is so fair and her eyes are so blue but what do I know? If they say she is roma then roma she is! Roma is also my grandmothers name.
So the paperwork continues and when all is said and done I won't even remember the paper pain! They are SO worth whatever we have to do! When we arrive back home on US soil both children will be US citizens! This is so exciting to me because I so dearly love this country. The large part of the paperwork is to make them citizens and that is OK! I think I will take some red, white and blue shirts for them to come home in! Ok , Well before I break into singing the National Anthem I had better sign off!
