Announcement

Welcome to Our Adoption Blog! We are not strangers to the wonderful world of adoption. Naomi will be our first (and possibly only)child acquired by international adoption. I guess this is our official announcement. Mike and I have prayerfully chosen to adopt a little girl from Eastern Europe. She is a very tiny 8 year old sweetheart, Naomi. She is a child with special needs and will be such a huge blessing to our family. I hope to use this blog to raise awareness for the many many other children who desperately need families. I also want this blog to be a way for our family and friends to "follow us as we follow God". I know many people will have questions as to why we walk this path and I think this blog will answer some of those questions as well.

I am new to the blogging world so *bear* with me as I learn!

So now a little information about our Naomi. First of all Naomi is not her real name and we will not call her Naomi when she gets home. The EE country that she was born in does not like to compromise the safety of its children so false names are given for that reason and Naomi was the name given to her so that is the name we will use (for now). Naomi is also a Hebrew name meaning sweet and pleasant and I really like it! She is 8 years old and is living in a residential type setting with other people with disabilities and she has caregivers. She was in a traditional orphanage until last fall when she was moved. From what I hear she is in a good place but it is not a family. She has never had a Mommy or Daddy. She is cared for by the staff of the facility that she has been assigned to. Not many children with disabilities are adopted so the orphanage directors and officials did not see much chance of a child like her being chosen for adoption. Orphans are unfortunate and disabled orphans are "the least of these". She will need Spiritual, Emotional and Physical care. She will change our family (for the better) and we will change her entire life(for the better).
