Week 2 Post op

This weeks pictures show what her incision and neck, arms look like exactly two weeks after surgery.  I took her for her two week post op check up and she looks great!  The incision is healing wonderfully and the tape came off easily and the stitches came out like a dream.  I am finding out now that the surgeon and doctors and staff were a little concerned that Miss Tallie might be a challenging patient.  She has actually been a dream patient.  She is over all very cooperative.  She doesn't fight them but will gently push their hands away if they are bugging her.  She tolerates the doctors and nurses well.  The surgeon who did her closure commented that every time she sees Tallie she feels like she is interrupting a phone call!  (see pics)  The doctors say that we should have an easier time keeping weight on her now and in fact should watch her to make sure she doesn't gain too much.  She should have much more energy now.  She is definitely smiling more and having "giggle fits".  She sometimes has a little trouble with her emotions. Its like she gets happy or excited and then she doesn't know how to handle it. She starts almost grimacing and flexing and tensing her body.  A couple of time she has gotten sad and even cried.  Its usually when she is alone in her room and I will pop in and find her crying.  She can come out of the room if she wants and its not often that she is alone in this house full of people but its happened a couple of times.  That sadness is a new thing. It happened once before surgery.  I guess she is learning about emotions.  It really is a good sign but it makes me sad to find her sad.  She comes out of it easily and joins in with the rest of the kids. Several people have commented that she is looking older and more mature.  More like the 10 year old girl she is and not a 4 year old.  I know there are several new and exciting things coming to her life! This summer she will feel better and better and we are gonna have some FUN!
