Here is the general breakdown of THESE adoptions. The cost for a typical international adoption can vary. These costs are estimates.
Paperwork (certified birth, marriage and divorce certificates, multiple copies) $150.00

Gas for USCIS print interview $52.00 (Cincinnati office)
Plane trip 1 (me alone before travel season) $1030.00
Children's Visas $808.00
Travel Expenses Trip 1 (me being very frugal!!) $700.00
Ink for docs $52.00 (lots of printing)
USCIS 2nd child fee $720.00
Final fee to Placing agency $8000.00
Total to date (I hope I haven't left anything out, I did this list from my receipt envelope)
= $20,763.00
We still have trip 2 which will be aprox.
$4,500 Flights (includes the kids 1 way flights during travel season)
$100. Kids medical exam (for entry into US)
$2000.00 Travel expenses including food, hotel etc.
So the final adoption cost will be aprox.
$27,363.00
These amounts are approximate but fairly close to accurate. I did not 'pad' any numbers or consistently round up. The reason they are approximate is because I used my receipts envelope to figure this up and I may not have written everything down as I stuffed the receipts in there. When I pull all the receipts out to itemize I may find out I spent more... But I think this is very close!
