Almost 1 year
We are getting ready for our 1 year post placement report. Can you believe in July we will mark one whole year from the date we officially became parents to Talia Joy and Tobias Jordan? In August we will celebrate one full year home. Oh the changes... I have so many positive changes to talk about! One quick thing I will share now though is that Tallie has had a little breakthrough of sorts... Usually when in an uncomfortable situation or when she is feeling unsure or stressed Tallie will assume her 'position' arm up by her ear and rock and make a low moaning noise. She usually ignores who or whatever is making her uncomfortable and draws into herself. She passively allows whatever is happening to just happen and she checks out. In therapy this usually means she is done. "lets go Moma I quit. Take me home because there will be no more cooperation from me..." But last week Tallie got mad. The therapist who we really love... was pushing Tallie to work a little harder a little longer... Tallie deliberately pulled the glasses off Ms. Jeanna's head and then she looked at them and threw them to the floor. She looked at Ms. Jeanna and made eye contact. It was deliberate and yes it was naughty. But Tallie didn't just tune out like she usually does... Tallie communicated to another person that she did not like what was happening and she wanted it to stop! It was a big moment for Tallie. She is beginning to know that she can communicate with other people and that she has certain rights and she can say "no".
