Dear Blog readers...

Dear Blog Readers....
I am sorry.  I have not written in a coon's age.  Usually when a person stops blogging or takes an extended break it turns out to be because they are dealing with something difficult or private.  I guess I am the exception to this rule. We are all doing very well!  The two  new kiddo's are adjusting very well. Of course we have challenges and issues we are dealing with but that's life and the Baker crew are in a happy blessed place!

I love reading other peoples blogs and I learn SO MUCH from all my blogging friends about parenting and about special needs of some children. Some of these great people have blogs that reach thousands. Some of the posts they write are amazing and moving and inspirational. I guess I just wonder why in the world anyone would want to read what I write.  But in checking my feed I see there are a few folks out there who do want to see how we are doing and watch us grow.  So for you guys I will try to do better.

Lets see a quick update on us since my last post. Talia had her dental surgery and MAN OH MAN can you tell a difference! Its like WOW!  They pulled 4 teeth but the great news is they were baby teeth and she does indeed have adult teeth but they have not erupted yet.  That is awesome news!  She had very bad periodontal disease which is why she had such a strong foul odor from her mouth and why when she was on antibiotics it seemed so  much better.  Her gums were seriously infected.  That is why her mouth bled so much every time I brushed her teeth and that bleeding didn't stop over time. So now she gets occasional morning breath and sometimes her breath smells like raw fish but nothing like before!  She had gained about 8 pounds since we got her and she looks so much healthier! Her stamina is improving and she is walking more and more. She has started OT and speech and will begin PT soon.  She LOVES OT especially playing in the pinto beans. She shrieks with laughter and smiles these huge grins!  Speech well not so much yet.  Not sure why but she is not a very cooperative girl with the speech therapist.  (more on that later).  I am excited about PT starting.  The therapist who evaluated her seems great and Tallie did well.  She worked so hard her little legs started to tremor with fatigue but as I said stamina level is coming up and Tallie seemed to take the hard work in stride.  (Little walking humor there)  The doc at Shriner's didn't think she would ever be a big walker and that we would need a push chair or stroller most of the time when we are out and about.  We shall see...  Anyway she is having FUN.
Toby is doing good in school. Good but not great.  We still have some behavior things to work through and we knew that we would have to teach him how to act appropriately and we are.  He has many words and signs now and he is very expressive.  I don't always understand what he is saying but he makes me understand what he needs.  The school brought in a Bulgarian interpreter to evaluate his language.  From what I hear she couldn't understand anything he said and he didn't seem to understand her either.  Oh well I guess they should go back to teaching him English...   He is scheduled to get tubes in his ears and adenoids out in Feb.  We are still working on getting an accurate assessment of his hearing and they will do an ABS (don't ask me what that stands for) on his ears then as well.

We are very excited to (almost) be able to announce that we are in the process of adopting ****. We have had this little person in our family for 4+ years now and finally we can get everything finalized and introduce to the world the newest BAKER.   God REALLY loves me because he has blessed me with the most wonderful kiddos ever!

I have SO MUCH I want to write but tomorrow is a busy day and I still have at least another hour of Mommy stuff to do before I can shower and get to bed.  I will post again soon.
